Venting about Boston’s Game 5 loss to Philly, being unready for the moment yet again
The Boston Celtics dropped a critical Game 5 of their 2023 Eastern Conference semifinals series with the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday night by coming out with low defensive intensity and poor ball movement. The loss gave fans flashbacks of the 2022 postseason when Boston put their backs against the wall against the Milwaukee Bucks. Will the team be able to win two games in a row to avoid their season ending? Can they get their act together before it is too late? Or is this iteration of the Celtics doomed to repeat history and end their season in disappointment as another opportunity to hang a banner passes them by? Buyouts, free agents, and other ways to juice the Boston Celtics’ roster even more
The Boston Celtics by all accounts had themselves a very productive 2022 NBA trade deadline, adding top-flight rotation talent bordering on starting level without paying an exceptionally high price to get the deals done while also consolidating contracts to clear playing time for their younger prospects as well. No easy task, the Celtics now face the next step of their journey back to contention — adding more talent around the margins as they seek to bolster the defensive firewall that is their primary identity while also boosting the team’s offensive capabilities with the best buyout and free agent targets available. Who is there to work with? What are they up to now, how can they help, and what are the odds Boston can land them?   On this episode of the CLNS Media podcast “Celtics Lab”, hosts Justin Quinn and Cameron Tabatabaie get into the end game for teambuilding for the 2021-22 season as we approach All-Star Week and the stretch run after. Alex Goldberg has the week off along with most of the Celtics’ roster but will be back in the saddle again soon. CL Pod 93: Boston’s rounding into form as the playoffs loom
The Boston Celtics are finally flirting with playing like the team most of us expected at the start of the season, with something resembling chemistry producing a much better version of the team on the court. They have struggled significantly as they have sought to cement a consistent identity as much as they have a consistent approach to games, but recent off-court activity on the now-complete west coast road trip have gone a long way with calming those concerns. At the same time, longtime rivals Los Angeles Lakers are facing potential disaster, as LeBron James’ arrival has failed to produce measurable improvement, and has had a negative impact on team chemistry in the wake of failed Anthony Davis trade machinations, while one of their brightest prospects faces a life-threatening malady. Join Mark Allison and Justin Quinn as they discuss these issues and the remaining schedule of the season, getting us up to speed on all the above and more in this week’s CL Pod.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/celtics-lab-nba-basketball-podcast/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy Learn more about your ad choices.
