August Alsina and his partner Zu found themselves trending heavy this weekend after social media started dissecting their relationship timeline. The chatter sparked when the two hosted a gay pride event at Opium in Atlanta, and some users on X (formerly Twitter) accused August of dating Zu before he was of legal age.

One viral post claimed: “August Alsina a weirdo. August and Zu been together for 5 years and Zu is 22 years old and graduated in 2022.”

Zu quickly stepped in to clear the air. In a lengthy post, he stated:

“Hope this clears up any confusion. … I met August when I was already of age, an adult. Aug didn’t even know me when I was 16 or 17… yea there’s a slight age difference but y’all pick and choose who to judge when it comes to that. We will have known each other for 5 years toward the end of the year, so he’s speaking in future terms… August is my boyfriend, and we’re happy with each other, simple.”

Zu also emphasized that their relationship is mutual and healthy, writing: “What y’all don’t know is, I run this relationship. I call the shots, August just shows up and supports me in whatever I want to do. He supports my dream, he IS a dream! Nothing is ever forced on either end.”

August backed his partner with a playful response, co-signing Zu’s message while letting it be known the rumors won’t shake their bond.

Despite the internet noise, both Zu and August made it clear: they’re grown, happy, and unbothered by outside opinions.
