After two agonizing days, the search for 10-year-old Dulce Victoria ended in heartbreak. The little girl, swept away by the Lerma River near Salamanca, was found lifeless on Saturday morning — ending a community’s desperate hope for a miracle.

The Salamanca Municipal Government confirmed the news with a message of deep sorrow, expressing condolences to Dulce’s grieving family and pledging transparency in handling the tragedy. The rescue mission had seen extraordinary efforts from emergency crews across several municipalities, including Irapuato and Huanímaro, alongside volunteer divers and local firefighters.

The ordeal began Thursday afternoon, June 12, when Dulce and a young boy fell into the river while playing near its edge. The boy managed to grab onto a tree and was rescued. His account guided the intense search that followed. While the community clung to hope, the river proved unforgiving.

When her body was recovered, the town’s collective anguish turned to mourning. Dulce’s death is not only a personal loss but a somber reminder of nature’s dangers and the importance of safety around water.

Dulce Victoria’s name will echo as both a heartbreaking memory and a call for caution — a symbol of innocence lost, and a young life remembered too soon.
