The influencer community is mourning the loss of Dominican content creator Ariela “La Langosta”, who has sadly passed away. Known for her bold personality, fashion-forward posts, and her close friendship with rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine, Ariela built a massive following on Instagram with over 556,000 fans.

In a statement to PEOPLE, Manhattan lounge Ikon New York, where Ariela worked, confirmed she was “at work” the night before her passing on August 17. The venue has temporarily closed its doors until August 21 to honor her memory.

Ikon New York shared a heartfelt tribute:

“You were our smile, our happiness. Thank you for giving so much love and support to our home. We love you and we will miss you forever.”

Tekashi 6ix9ine also honored his late friend on Instagram Stories, calling her the “queen of New York” and writing, “NY won’t ever be the same. I loved you.”

Other NYC nightlife staples also remembered Ariela. Starlets of New York in Queens described her as a “beautiful friend, loving mother, and daughter whose smile and energy lit up every room she entered.”
